Our American Ways

Dear Readers, Friends, Family, and Fellow Americans

I have long been meaning to write once again, but anyway... I finally got to vote for the first time. The only reason why its taken me so long to vote is because I've been in Rexburg during the election season, but that doesn't mean I keep up on politics... Actually sometimes I get into it so much that I son't realize how insensitive I am to other peoples feelings.

First of all I want to say...

Yea for the History that occured on the night of Nov. 4! I thank God for the strides that Americans have made toward equalization.

Yes, I was sad that Obama didn't share exactly the same oppinions that I have, but We can only pray and hope that as Americans we will strive to become better and to be "ONE NATION UNDER GOD.... With Liberty and Justice for ALL!"

I stand behind our president that we have now and the new elected president. Just like it says in Article of Faith # 12

"We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. "

George Bush in our President now and Barack Obama will be in January. the only thing I can say is to give them a chance, pray for a good change, and be prepared for the Good and the Bad becasue no man on this earth is perfect and our country is sure not perfect.

Thought you might enjoy this interesting paryer given in kansas at the opening session of their senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the neew session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know your word says,' Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem..

We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values or our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Amen!

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In six short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. the church is now receiving internationonal requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa, and Korea.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can bve called 'one nation under God.'

Please Pray for our Country!!!
